After the arrival of Lionel Messi to Inter Miami, the Fort Lauderdale team have seen a noticeable upturn in their fortunes and results, so much so that they won the first title in their history – Leagues Cup – shortly after the Argentine arrived.

Last weekend’s clash against Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium marked Las Garzas’ second game without Messi, but the first due to a mutual agreement between Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino and the FC Barcelona legend. The other game in which he was absent was against Sporting KC, but there his absence was due to duty with the Argentina National Team.
